We are immersed in our first STEAM project!  Our first three sessions have the following challenge:

Each team is to design, create, and test a model of a wind turbine.
The challenge:  Which model can generate enough power to lift a cup of weights?

Choosing from a variety of materials, groups began to create their models.  Our first session began with a safety demonstration and a description of the challenge.

The photos below show some early designs and a few tests of our wind turbines.
Stay tuned for our final tests.

We were filled with Mustang Pride!!

Ms. Pape's Fourth Grade

As Back to School Night approaches, it's time to welcome you to our 4th grade class and our new class blog.  We are off to a great start with seventeen eager learners!  We have spent the first few weeks together sharing our hopes and dreams for fourth grade. I have been excited to see how much this group loves to read!  We have started our reading logs for the year and will soon embark on our exciting Book Bingo Project (stay tuned!)
I hope you notice our detailed U.S. maps hanging in the classroom.  It has been a great kick-start to our study of the U.S. regions.  As you will soon learn, we have a new and exciting project to enhance our study.  We are sending out U.S. travel diaries with the hope of hearing back from all 50 states. Our travel diaries even have their own blog!! You will find a link to it on the blog sidebar.
How do you like the new blog format?  Hopefully you will find all the important information you need about our class within this site.
Thank you for all the support you give your students every day, from providing supplies to coaching through homework challenges.  Here's to a great year together!
